They haven’t changed. How do I know? Because if they did, you wouldn’t need an article on the internet to tell you it’s a bad idea to take them back. However, we all have our moments of weakness so here are some reminders.
1. Why Now?
Why are they coming back into your life now? Are you doing better and moving on? Are they lonely? Is the nostalgia hitting hard? They have had several opportunities to prove that they wanted you. Why all of a sudden now?
2. Re-Read Your Notes App
You know exactly what I’m talking about. They really hurt you. Why would you want to invite all those toxic feelings back again?
3. Actions>Words
It’s all talk. Maybe they are trying to woo you with thing nice things, nice words, and even gestures. However, showing up for you when it was convenient was never a problem. The problem is they stopped as soon as it got hard.
4. They Knew You Were Hurt. They Didn’t Care
When things went south, they knew you were crying yourself to sleep and barely eating. They didn’t care. They only cared about themself and their own feelings. Now all of a sudden they are in the mood to not be horrible, so might as well reach back out to you, right? Wrong. Don’t fall for it.
5. Never Know A Good Thing Until It’s Gone
You know how badly you wanted them when you had them. You know how hard you fought. They didn’t see you as worth the fight at the time. Now, with you gone, they want another chance. Don’t give them the satisfaction.
6. You Deserve Better
You’re healing. You’re getting used to life without them and realizing it’s kind of nice. Your life will be beautiful again, just in different ways. You deserve so much better than to be in emotional turmoil all the time. Let them go and see what beauty the future has in store for you.
